Having the chance to travel to beautiful Cape Town, we visited a little gem nested at the bottom of Table Mountain not far away from the botanical garden. This is the former house, now turned museum, of the South African painter Irma Stern (1894-1966).

This major expressionist artist of global significance is famous for her portraits, but the museum also celebrates Irma Stern the adventurer and traveller who was taking regular painting trips across Africa, including Zanzibar and Congo during the 30s and 40s.
The atmosphere in this period house, of contrasted walls full of paintings rendered in saturated colours and surrounded by a lush garden, is incredible. Far away from the crowds, a very inspiring and resourcing experience that we highly recommend if you ever get the chance to travel to Capetown.
